Sport

Sport in the Pre-Prep plays as important role as it does in the Prep at Howe Green House. Right from the beginning of their journey in Little Oaks and then into Reception, the children participate in a diverse range of PE lessons, as we recognise the importance of regular physical activity to improve both physical as well as mental well-being.

Children in the Pre-Prep will all compete in a variety of inter-school competitions throughout the year including, but not limited to Cross Country, Football, Athletics and Dance. As well as this, they compete in the Pre-Prep Sports Day, a heart-warming event enjoyed by all.

Whilst lessons may not be quite so competitive, we regularly climb tall apparatus, exploring shapes we can make, and jump off the gymnastics boxes imagining it is into a deep ocean below. Pre-Prep lessons encompass a mix of Games and PE with a focus on learning new skills and developing confidence ready to implement them into game situations.

We focus on the fundamentals throughout the curriculum, working on co-ordination, balance and agility. Our specialist staff make PE lessons enjoyable so the pupils develop a love for all aspects of sport from a very young age. We strive to help them develop a healthy approach to fitness and exercise whilst understanding the importance of participating for a healthy lifestyle.

In addition to their PE and Games lessons, the Pre-Prep children have an array of sports related after school activities on offer to them as well. These are led by the staff and external coaches including former professionals and Olympic medalists.

As they move up into the Prep Department, all the children will have competed competitively in a number of sporting fixtures, ensuring they are confident performers and ready for their next sporting challenges.
