Community & Charity Work

At Howe Green House School, we are committed to instilling a sense of compassion, empathy and social responsibility in our pupils. Our community and charity initiatives go beyond the classroom, allowing pupils to actively engage with the world around them and make a positive impact. Here are some examples of how we contribute to the community and support charitable causes.

Year Six Chosen Charity

Each year, our Year Six pupils take on the important responsibility of selecting a charity to support. This process involves research, discussions, and a thoughtful consideration of causes that resonate with our school values. The chosen charity becomes the focus of our fundraising efforts throughout the academic year.

The Year Six pupils, with the support of staff and their families, actively plan and organise fundraising events to support their chosen charity. This hands-on experience allows pupils to develop organisational skills, teamwork, and a deep understanding of the impact they can have on the lives of others.

Supporting Key Events

Howe Green House School proudly participates in nationally recognised events like Children in Need and Comic Relief. Our school community comes together to raise funds through fun and creative activities, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose among pupils, staff and parents.

Community Engagement

We believe in building strong connections with our local community. Our Pre-Prep have created a link with a local care home and pupils regularly visit, bringing joy, companionship, and youthful energy to the residents. These interactions create meaningful connections and provide valuable learning experiences for our pupils.

Howe Green House opens its doors to the community during school productions, inviting members of the local community to enjoy and celebrate the talents of our pupils. This inclusive approach strengthens ties between the school and the community, fostering a sense of shared pride and support.

Our school is not just a place for academic pursuits; it’s a community hub. We actively offer our venue for school and charity events, providing a welcoming space for gatherings, meetings, and activities that benefit the broader community.  Some examples are our weekly parent and toddler group, the annual community coffee morning and Remembrance Day service. We are proud to have hosted the Accuro Games for a local charity.
