There is never a dull moment during a day in the Prep Department. Children are welcomed into class with learning activities and start the day with English and Maths lessons.
In English, we link with various topics, explore many texts and have the opportunity to respond with a variety of written tasks. Maths follows and the children are given plenty of opportunity to extend their reasoning and problem-solving skills.
The Prep day also involves lessons in Humanities where children carry out research in History, experiments in Science, investigations in Geography and observations in R.E.
During the Prep day, children are also taught by specialist staff in Art, Music, Physical Education, Languages and Drama. We have a wonderful art room where the children are autonomous and free to use the abundant resources to their pleasure. The Prep children also make use of the wonderful facilities we have access to for their Physical Education and Games lessons.
The Prep day ends at 3:45pm when the children are set homework to reinforce what they have learnt in core subjects and provide regular exposure to verbal and non-verbal reasoning. This can be completed at home or in Homework Club.
After school, there are clubs on every day from 3:45pm-4:30pm. From Photography to Football and Musical Theatre to Karate, there are a wide range of clubs for the Prep children to choose from.
