In the Pre-Prep department, children are warmly welcomed into the classroom each day with a morning task to engage them. This varies daily and links to the curriculum to ensure consolidation of key learning. The form tutor then leads children through core subjects, incorporating exciting practical tasks to engage learners. The children can often be found using maths resources to enhance understanding and utilising drama opportunities to bring English lessons to life. The Pre-Prep children have daily phonics lessons which are a crucial part of their learning to ensure they progress into confident and passionate readers.
During the school day, lessons in Humanities ensure the children understand the world around them and ignite an eagerness to learn more. This may include researching key periods of History, intriguing investigations in Geography, observations and discussions in R.E. and so much more.
Throughout the day, the children are also taught by our wonderful specialist staff who have particular skills that enable them to deliver the wider curriculum exceptionally. These subjects include Science, Art, Music, Physical Education, Languages and Drama. The staff make use of our excellent Art room, Music classroom and sports facilities.
The Pre-Prep day ends at 3:45pm when the children are able to depart or choose to stay later and try one of the exciting clubs that run from 3:45pm-4:30pm. From Yoga to Football and Gardening to Karate, there are a wide range of clubs for the Pre-Prep children to choose from and something for everybody.
